Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, received Mr. Jacob Hirshman, co-founder of the U.S. bank Erebor, a bank focused on financial technology and innovation, for a courtesy meeting and discussion on 14 October 2026 at the headquarters of the National Bank of Cambodia, Wat Phnom building.
At the outset, Mr. Jacob Hirshman briefed on the operational progress of Erebor in the United States and on the bank's business model, which centers on financial technology. He also expressed his interest in exploring opportunities for cooperation in the financial sector in Cambodia and emphasized his focus on risk management and regulatory compliance.
In response, the Governor welcomed Erebor's interest in the Cambodian market and highlighted the progress made in developing the digital payment system and the financial infrastructure that supports responsible financial innovation.
She also underscored the importance of creating an enabling environment that supports financial innovation, regulatory compliance, and the maintenance of financial stability.
Both sides further agreed to continue their discussions and to exchange views in the future.
