Preah Sihanouk Province Celebrates the 33rd Anniversary of "Constitution Promulgation Day"

On September 24, 2026, Cambodia celebrated the 33rd anniversary of the "Constitution Promulgation Day" of the Kingdom of Cambodia. At the same time, Preah Sihanouk province also held a ceremony at the January 7 Square located in Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville city, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Vong Phanat, Chairman of the Provincial Council, and council member Samuth Sothearith, Deputy Provincial Governor, civil servants from departments and units around the province, armed forces, law enforcement, city and district governors, who participated in large numbers in the ceremony of presenting lotus-shaped offerings and paying respects to the Constitution at the Constitutional Monument.
September 24, 2026, marks the 33rd anniversary of the official promulgation of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia, corresponding to September 24, 1993. This constitution came into being following the Paris Peace Accords on October 23, 1991, and the first elections in Cambodia, which were organized under the auspices and protection of the United Nations through UNTAC, from May 23 to May 28, 1993.
The Constitution is the supreme law of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and all laws and decisions of state institutions must absolutely conform to the Constitution. The Constitution also sets forth the principle of separation of state powers into three: the legislative power, the executive power, and the judicial power, as well as guaranteeing the fundamental rights of citizens and the principles of the rule of law.
The ceremony of presenting lotus-shaped offerings and paying respects to the Constitution in Preah Sihanouk province proceeded solemnly and respectfully in accordance with the planned program.
