840 kg of drugs and nearly 8,000 rounds of ammo! Major case busted in Sihanoukville

In the early hours of September 23, Cambodian police conducted an operation in waters near Bamboo Island in Sihanoukville Province, busting a case involving a large quantity of drugs and illegal firearms and ammunition. A total of 7 Chinese nationals were arrested.

According to the Sihanoukville Maritime Police, after several days of investigation and stakeout, officers locked onto the target at 00:10 a.m. that day. Law enforcement personnel first intercepted a speedboat at sea, arresting 2 Chinese nationals. They then continued the pursuit, stopping two vehicles on land and apprehending 5 more suspects.

During the operation, police seized 42 large bags of drugs with a total weight of approximately 840 kilograms. They also confiscated 10 long guns, 39 pistols, 108 magazines, 7,937 rounds of ammunition, and 8 silencers. In addition, authorities impounded 1 speedboat, 2 cars, and 3 motorcycles.

Currently, the 7 Chinese suspects and all the physical evidence involved in the case have been transferred to the Sihanoukville Provincial Police Station.
