Kampot welcomes another major project: modern metal plant approved, expected to create 408 jobs

Cambodia's metal processing industry is welcoming another new project. The modern metal processing and smelting plant of Asia-Europe Metals (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., located in Chhuk District, Kampot Province, officially received approval of its full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report from Cambodia's Ministry of Environment on August 27, and the project has moved into its advancement phase.
According to reports, the plant covers an area of about 26 hectares and mainly processes four types of metals—antimony, lead, tin and copper—with products aimed at the international market. The project is expected to have an initial annual production capacity of around 13,600 tonnes, rising to 34,000 tonnes at full capacity, and is expected to create around 408 jobs.

In addition to production and construction, the company also plans to arrange for about 30 Cambodian youths to receive practical training at its branch in Vietnam, where they will master metal processing techniques before returning to work at the Kampot plant. At the same time, the company will continue to carry out professional skills training to cultivate local industrial workers.
The plant plans to operate 24 hours a day in three shifts, with medical staff on site, and will focus on implementing safety signs, alarm systems, protective equipment and emergency response plans.

On the environmental front, the company has pledged to implement environmental management measures in line with the approved EIA report, with a focus on strengthening the treatment of exhaust gas, wastewater, and solid and hazardous waste, in order to drive metal processing toward a cleaner, safer and more sustainable direction.
