According to China's state news agency Xinhua, a border bridge between China and North Korea is scheduled to officially open on Thursday, October 15, signaling deepening progress and stronger economic ties between the two neighboring countries.

The new Yalu River bridge has a total length of 3,026 meters, connecting the northeastern Chinese border city of Dandong with North Korea.
The new bridge is built to replace the decades-old Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge, which had been used regularly only by passenger trains, while China is North Korea's largest trading partner and a key source of diplomatic, economic and political support for the isolated nuclear state.

China's exports to North Korea reached their highest level in six years, totaling 2.3 billion US dollars last year, a 25% increase compared to the previous year.

It is also worth recalling that North Korea closed its borders during the COVID-19 pandemic, and rail travel between the two neighbors only resumed in March this year after a six-year hiatus. By: Rithy
