Cambodia has called for more opportunities to be given to developing ASEAN member states to lead regional projects, while ASEAN officials have pushed for cooperation in science, technology and innovation at the 90th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI-90) in Da Nang, Vietnam.
The meeting, organized by Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology, ran from October 13 to 15, focusing on the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation 2026-2035, including priorities related to research financing, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies and cooperation in the space sector.
Dr. Try Sorphol, Director General of the General Department of Science, Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, proposed that ASEAN give more opportunities to developing member states and least developed countries to lead regional projects.
He said, "Inclusivity should not only mean participation, but also include opportunities to lead, contribute to and set the priorities of projects." By: Sreypi
