Brazilian President Lula da Silva won another election after a fierce contest, defeating Flávio Bolsonaro in the runoff vote.
This was Lula’s fourth presidential election victory. He previously held the office for two terms, from January 2003 to December 2010, and returned to power in January 2023, where he remains today.
The 80-year-old Lula, a former steelworker, first ran for president in 1989 and first took office in 2003, while his new term is scheduled to begin on January 5, 2027. By: Rithy
