Although India and China have worked for years to maintain peace and tranquility through dialogue and border troop talks, following the confrontation that began in 2020, the latest confirmation from the Indian border police indicates a clear improvement in the current security situation.

According to a report by The Independent, recent Chinese propaganda has intensified in the Subansiri area of Arunachal Pradesh, India, prompting some local residents to remain watchful and refrain from entering the land they have long cultivated.
India and China have a 3,440-kilometre disputed border that they describe as the Line of Actual Control, or LAC. The LAC runs through the Himalayan range, cutting across Tawang, Bomdila and forests. It is not precisely demarcated, and control of the line has been the source of unabated friction between the two neighboring countries, which fought a large-scale war in 1962, when India was militarily defeated.

The latest major confrontation occurred in May 2020 when Indian and Chinese forces clashed in the Galwan Valley, killing 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese soldiers.
China and India have since worked to reduce the security situation along the border, reaching eight-point agreements in 2024 and continuing high-level military talks to the present.
