Construction of the Dey Edth–Thma Kor bridge across the Mekong River is continuing actively, with completion planned for 2028. The bridge is an important part of improving infrastructure and transport connections between areas south and east of Phnom Penh.
According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the bridge has a 48-month construction period. Ground was broken on June 7, 2023, together with the Phnom Penh–Bavet expressway project, at a ceremony presided over by then-Prime Minister Hun Sen and then-Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian.
The bridge’s western bank is in Dey Edth commune, Kien Svay district, and its eastern bank is in Thma Kor commune, Lvea Em district, Kandal province. On the west, it connects to Xi Jinping Boulevard, the Third Ring Road, at National Road 1. On the east, it connects to the Phnom Penh–Bavet expressway and National Road 70B.

Once completed, the bridge is expected to facilitate travel and freight transport, improve connections between areas and stimulate economic activity along major road networks.

Construction of the Dey Edth–Thma Kor bridge and related works is currently proceeding actively to implement the project according to plan and meet the 2028 completion target.
