At the UN Biodiversity Conference COP17 in Armenia on October 29, 2026, Cambodia achieved a further success, securing US$629,475 in funding support from the international community
to strengthen national biodiversity resource management within Cambodia.
According to the Ministry of Environment, the new achievement highlights the Cambodian government’s firm commitment to continuing clear and effective policies and strategies, including its Circular Strategy on Environment, aimed at making Cambodia clean, green and sustainable and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
During the 17th UN Biodiversity Conference COP17, the Cambodian delegation, led by Environment Minister Dr. Eang Sophalleth, joined discussions and delivered a keynote address on Cambodia’s efforts and commitment to natural resource management, biodiversity conservation and active participation in United Nations environmental conventions to address global challenges. Cambodia had also recently secured US$1 million in funding support during this year’s COP17 to strengthen institutional capacity, environmental management and natural resource protection.

Building on its earlier achievements at COP17 in Armenia in 2026, the Ministry of Environment had received a total of more than US$1.6 million from the international community to promote a clean, green and sustainable Cambodia. By: Srey Pi
