Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration has deported 72 Indonesian nationals, including 12 women, through the police checkpoint at Techo International Airport. Under instructions from the Minister of Interior and Lieutenant General Sok Veasna, Director General of Immigration, the Department of Investigation and Procedure Implementation worked with the Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia to carry out the deportation procedures. The foreigners were found to be involved in illegal stays, unlawful employment and online scams.
The deportations form part of strict law enforcement measures ordered by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, who has declared that criminals and people acting illegally will not be allowed to use Cambodian territory as a base for scams and other offences that threaten regional and global security. The authorities must also continue to crack down on offenders and deport them in accordance with the law to safeguard national security and Cambodia’s reputation.
Under the direct guidance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha, law enforcement personnel are continuing to strengthen efforts against cybercrime, focusing on investigating ringleaders and dismantling criminal networks. They are also rescuing victims who have been deceived so that they can regain their freedom and return to their home countries. By: Sopheak
