On October 30, Prasan Henprasert, commander of Thailand's Naresuan Force, visited a Thai-Myanmar border military base in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, and instructed border troops to strengthen patrols and security monitoring while closely watching the situation along the border.
Prasan said that recent clashes between Myanmar's military and revolutionary armed forces near Min Let Pan in Myawaddy District, Karen State, resulted in bullets falling into Thai territory. More than 10 houses were damaged and several residents were injured. A 55-year-old Thai woman was struck by a mortar shell that landed in a residence, suffering injuries to her hands and back, while a 14-year-old boy encountered a stray bullet but suffered no apparent injury.
The Thai military ordered border troops to deploy personnel and weapons properly and maintain a high level of alert. If stray bullets cross the border again, the troops will be ready to take response action.
The Thai military said it will continue monitoring border security, prevent illegal forces from providing support, and prioritize protecting the lives and property of border residents.
