Cambodia and Denmark have formally established a bilateral consultation mechanism to strengthen diplomatic ties and expand cooperation in key areas. This was an outcome of the first bilateral consultations between the two countries, held on 30 October 2026 at Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The meeting was co-chaired by Nong Sakal, Under Secretary of State at the ministry, and Christian Tobias Bayer Tygesen, Director of the Department for Asia, Oceania, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Americas at Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral consultations, laying the groundwork for regular discussions on development cooperation, economic relations, trade and other areas of mutual benefit. The mechanism will also create more opportunities for the two countries to expand their ties and explore new avenues for cooperation.
The meeting also provided a platform for senior officials from the two foreign ministries to exchange views on regional and international issues. The second bilateral consultations will take place in the Kingdom of Denmark, maintaining momentum and further strengthening the friendship between Cambodia and Denmark. Article: Sopheak
