Retail chains and supermarkets from Sweden to Portugal were hit by cyberattacks on their cooling and freezing systems on Monday. The European Union condemned the incidents as a deliberate attempt to disrupt the bloc’s food supply chain.
Supermarkets in at least eight countries, including Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, were reportedly seriously affected. Businesses and food retailers were forced to discard fresh produce and other food products because they had spoiled or were at risk of spoiling after refrigerator temperatures suddenly rose abnormally.
So far, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Article by: Rithy
