Eight Thai nationals, including one woman, were deported from Cambodia through the Cham Yeam international border checkpoint in Koh Kong province after being implicated in illegal residence, work and drug use. The deportation followed instructions from Lieutenant General Sok Veasna, Director-General of the General Department of Immigration, who assigned the Department of Investigation and Legal Procedure to take legal action in line with recommendations from Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha on November 4, 2026, and the Ministry of Interior’s leadership.
The measure forms part of the firm implementation of instructions from Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to prevent and crack down on criminal activities affecting national and regional security. The prime minister has previously made clear that Cambodia will not allow criminals or people acting illegally to use its territory as a base for fraud or other unlawful activities that threaten security in the region and the wider world.

Under the direct guidance of Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha, the authorities continue to strengthen investigations and crackdowns on technology-based crime, working toward identifying the masterminds behind unlawful activities. They are also helping rescue victims who have been deceived so that they can regain their freedom and return safely to their home countries, with the aim of ensuring security and social order and protecting the nation’s reputation.
