A devastating fire tore through a two-storey wooden home in New York’s Sunset Park area early yesterday, Thursday, November 5, killing six people and injuring several others.
Despite a rapid response by New York firefighters, flames engulfed the home within just a few minutes.
According to the fire chief, the building was constructed entirely of wood, allowing the flames to spread rapidly. During the initial investigation, fire marshals found a battery at the scene that may have contributed to the fire.
New York has seen a sharp increase in battery-related fires in recent years, most of them linked to substandard batteries, modifications to electrical systems or prolonged overcharging. By: Rithy
