Preah Sihanouk province has extended its tourism promotion to European markets by showcasing sports tourism and opportunities for combat sports training on Koh Rong. On 5 November 2026, Governor Mang Sineth led a provincial delegation and the KONG MMA club to a promotion and combat sports showcase in Prague, Czech Republic. Their participation aimed to introduce Koh Rong’s potential, particularly its prospects as a sports tourism destination that could attract tourists, trainees and sports enthusiasts from various countries to discover Cambodia.
At the event, KONG MMA presented its activities and capacity to provide combat sports training at its centre on Koh Rong. It invited coaches, male and female athletes, students and combat sports enthusiasts from the Czech Republic and other countries to train, improve their skills and exchange experience in Cambodia. Combining sports training with Koh Rong’s natural setting and coastal scenery could create a new tourism experience encompassing health, athletic development and relaxation. Bringing together professionals and sports enthusiasts from different countries also offers opportunities to share knowledge and techniques and strengthen ties within the international sports community.
The promotion in Prague not only introduced KONG MMA’s activities but also showcased Preah Sihanouk’s emerging potential to diversify its tourism products by connecting nature tourism with sports tourism. With further promotion and development, sports tourism could help attract visitors for longer stays, generate demand for local services and increase employment opportunities for residents. Expanding partnerships with the international sports community could also raise Cambodia’s international profile and demonstrate that Koh Rong has potential as a place for sports training and exchanges of experience, as well as a coastal tourism destination.
