Summary

Vietnam will consider emergency preparedness measures suited to its circumstances, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said on November 5, after several countries advised their citizens to prepare food and other essential supplies.

Vietnam’s government said it would carefully consider measures appropriate to the country’s actual circumstances after several countries around the world issued recommendations for their citizens to keep enough food and essential supplies to sustain themselves during emergencies.

The statement was made at a press conference yesterday, November 5, after reporters asked Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang to comment on recent recommendations from some countries urging their citizens to prepare food and essential supplies for three to seven days in case of an emergency.

Countries in Europe, including the United Kingdom and Finland, and in Asia, such as Japan and Thailand, have reportedly advised their citizens to keep enough food, water and other necessities to sustain themselves for at least three days in the event of a natural disaster or another emergency.
