On the morning of October 2, 2025, Tourism Minister Huot Hak presided over the closing ceremony of the 2025 tourism inspectors’ capacity-building workshop at the Cambodia–Korea Cooperation Center (CKCC) in Phnom Penh.
The workshop aimed to strengthen capacity and improve inspection work at the Ministry of Tourism’s central and capital-provincial levels. Training focused on fundamental responsibilities, professional ethics, inspectors’ powers, duties after receiving judicial police qualifications, and key measures for more effective performance.
Ministry of Tourism leaders and guest speakers from the ministries of Justice, Inspection and Tourism attended. The training involved 204 participants.
Huot Hak said inspectors must follow key approaches and clearly distinguish the roles of auditing, specialised inspection and other oversight mechanisms to improve tourism-sector management and public services.
He added that inspection was an important part of public administration reform and had consistently received attention from government leaders, from Hun Sen’s leadership to current Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Under Hun Manet, the government introduced the first phase of the Pentagonal Strategy, focusing on reform, stronger governance and modernisation of state institutions to create a capable, modern administration with integrity.
The minister stressed that nothing could replace oversight. He said strengthening inspection represented a firm commitment, amid deeper reforms, to clean public administration with integrity, transparency and accountability.
