Vietnam’s Quang Tri province recently uncovered a major cross-border smuggling case. Police caught 72 Chinese nationals who had entered Vietnam illegally after being lured by supposed high-paying jobs. The case involved 89 people in total, and five Vietnamese suspects have been criminally charged.
Police said the group organised illegal entry by land and water, promising high incomes in Vietnam or a third country. They described the operation as large-scale and harmful. The Chinese nationals involved have been transferred to the relevant Chinese authorities through legal procedures.
Quang Tri police said they would strengthen border law enforcement and crack down on illegal entry and exit and transnational crime. They urged the public to stay alert to high-paying recruitment scams.
