Summary

Defence Ministry spokeswoman Maly Socheata said the bilateral JCTF held its second video meeting on 9 October 2025 to continue drafting demining procedures after two rounds of exchanges and revisions.

On the morning of 9 October 2025, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokeswoman for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence, said the Cambodia–Thailand Joint Coordinating Task Force (JCTF) on humanitarian demining had held its second meeting by video conference (VTC).

The meeting aimed to continue discussions on preparing the JCTF’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), after the two sides had exchanged and revised the document twice.

Lieutenant General Maly Socheata added that preparing the SOP is important to ensure standardised working methods focused on solidarity, respect for sovereignty and preservation of both countries’ territorial integrity. The cooperation would also contribute significantly to economic and social development and to protecting people’s lives in areas affected by landmines left over from past wars.

The Cambodia–Thailand JCTF was established in accordance with the outcome of the First Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC), held on 10 September 2025 in Koh Kong province, Cambodia.
