Cambodia’s National Police said in a notice that the second joint Cambodia–Thailand police meeting on cross-border crime, originally scheduled for October 13 in Battambang province, had been postponed again following a Thai request to adjust the schedule.
The two sides held their first meeting on September 16 in Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province to discuss cross-border crime, including online fraud and human trafficking. The second meeting was originally planned for September 26 but was postponed to October 13 and has now been delayed again.
Sources said repeated postponements mainly reflected disagreements over targets and an action list. Thai police had reportedly submitted a list of suspected scam compounds in border areas and requested Cambodian assistance in investigating them. Cambodia considered some information insufficient and asked Thailand for further evidence before discussion.
Thailand’s prime minister and foreign minister have recently said publicly that Cambodia should intensify action against scam compounds, treating this as an important condition for deeper cooperation and peace negotiations. Against this backdrop, the report says the further postponement indicates a continuing need for coordination and communication in joint law enforcement.
