Cambodia's Interior Ministry released the findings of a specialist commission's autopsy on a person killed in the shooting at Prey Chan village. It was responding to Thai media reports claiming no Cambodian civilians had died in the November 12 shooting in Prey Chan village, Ou Beichoan commune, Ou Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, apart from three injured people receiving hospital treatment. The autopsy was conducted in the presence of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). The ministry said Thai armed personnel fired several rounds from M16 rifles at Cambodian villagers, killing one person and seriously injuring three. The deceased was ឌី ណៃ, known as សល់, a 36-year-old man living in Prey Chan.
The ministry said its account was based on the Cambodian specialists' autopsy, which found a 2-by-3-centimetre skin wound in the head and face area, with a track running diagonally from left to right into the torso, and a bullet lodged beneath the skin over the right rear ribs. The commission removed the bullet in the presence of AOT observers, recording a diameter of 5.7 millimetres, a length of 23 millimetres and six right-hand rifling marks. It also identified a first scene where three Cambodian civilians were seriously injured, about 100 metres from the Thai armed personnel's firing position, and a second scene where the victim died, about 180 metres from the firing position. It said Thai personnel fired from two locations towards one target in Prey Chan. On that basis, the ministry reaffirmed that ឌី ណៃ, known as សល់, died from Thai gunfire on November 12, 2025, rejecting Thai reports as distortions. It said the bullet entered the body, penetrated the lung, severed major blood vessels and remained in the right side of the back.
