Summary

Thai police arrested a Chinese man at Don Mueang airport, alleging he handled and converted over 330 million baht for a cross-border scam network.

On November 14, 2025, Thailand's Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau arrested a 39-year-old Chinese man at Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport as he attempted to leave the country. Police suspect he had long provided money-laundering services to a transnational telecommunications scam group. He was already wanted under a court warrant on charges including fraud, entering false computer data, money laundering and participation in a criminal organization. Officers found several phones, bank cards and financial transaction records in his luggage that they suspected were linked to cross-border fund movements.

The case began with a scam using social media and a fake online shop. A victim was directed into a large chat group and repeatedly put money into a fraudulent shopping website but could never withdraw it, eventually losing nearly 3 million baht, stated as 658,789.20 yuan. Thai police identified 34 people involved, arrested 28 in successive operations and seized electronic equipment and assets, uncovering a cross-border scam network involving people of several nationalities.

Investigators allege that the arrested man transferred funds and exchanged digital currency for the network, handling more than 330 million baht, stated as 72,466,812 yuan, over a year and a half. Although he denied involvement in fraud, he admitted carrying out several currency exchanges on instructions from people overseas. Further investigations are under way, and the suspects will be dealt with under Thai law.
