The report described an embarrassment for Thailand’s national esports team at the 33rd SEA Games after player Naphat Warasin, known as Tokyogurl, was found to have used prohibited assistance equipment during the women’s Arena of Valor (RoV) team match against Vietnam on December 15.
The SEA Games organising committee (SEAGOC) said in an official letter to Thailand’s National Olympic Committee that Warasin had violated Article 9.4.3 of the esports technical handbook. The report said a full investigation and clear evidence led to her complete expulsion from esports competition at these SEA Games, characterising the decision as final and fully justified.
Meanwhile, Tokyogurl’s team, TALON TH, announced that her role with the team ended immediately from December 16.
Thailand’s esports federation (TESE) issued a statement accepting the decision and pledged an internal review to strengthen players’ ethical and technical standards, with the aim of preventing similar incidents.
The report also commented that the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand appeared unprepared to receive guests and organise the sporting events. It said international observers had noted repeated organisational errors since the opening, while various other national teams had expressed dissatisfaction.
