Around midday on December 18, the report says Poipet, on the Cambodia–Thailand border, came under a Thai military air strike. Citing a notice, it says Thailand used F-16 fighter aircraft to drop two bombs on the area at 11:06, threatening local security.
Cambodia’s military said it immediately strengthened defensive deployments and maintained a high state of alert. It reiterated its determination to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity and readiness to respond to possible incursions.
The situation was still being assessed. Cambodia’s military stressed that it would take all necessary measures to protect border security and people’s lives and property.
