(Phnom Penh) Chea Thirith, spokesperson for Samdech Techo Hun Sen, said that for the nation and the people, the Cambodian leader never tires. He said Hun Sen had been through 105 battles and suffered serious wounds five times.
Chea Thirith wrote on social media:
“For the nation and the people, there is no such word as tired! He has been through 105 battles and was seriously wounded five times.
— On June 20, 1977, he staked his life on the struggle to liberate the nation from the genocidal regime.
— On October 22, 1996, he travelled into Khmer Rouge territory, risking his life for peace in Cambodia, until the civil war ended completely on December 29, 1998.
— He led Cambodia from the ashes toward development, with annual economic growth of around 7 percent for more than two decades before COVID-19.
— He is currently working with Samdech Thipadei to provide strategies to military commanders resisting the invading enemy.
— Whenever the nation and the people face difficulties, he is always there! His life belongs to the Khmer nation!
Whenever he is on duty, he tells colleagues about his experiences amid the flames of war and in leading the country. He often recalls: ‘Hun Sen should not have survived to this day, because life has been so difficult.’”
