The Ministry of Agriculture has been working urgently to prepare vegetable-growing and livestock production sites in Banteay Meanchey Province to supply people displaced by fighting, according to Prak David, secretary of state at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, on December 18, 2025.
The secretary of state said the vegetables already planted and being planted have short growing cycles and can be harvested quickly. The working group has completed part of the preparations and is accelerating the process.
Other officials and experts said that, with Cambodia facing what they described as aggression by Thailand, those behind the front lines need to grow more crops to supply Cambodian frontline troops resisting aggression by the Thai military and government, as well as to maintain food security and stability within Cambodia.
Pech Chanmony Hun Manet has also called for a patriotic movement encouraging students to grow vegetables that can be harvested within a short period to help supply displaced people. The Agriculture Ministry has already undertaken this work in areas with large displaced populations, including Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, Siem Reap and Preah Vihear provinces.
