According to a December 27, 2025 statement by Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, Vietnam welcomed Cambodia and Thailand’s signing of the joint statement at the third special meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC), agreeing on a ceasefire and measures to ease tensions along their shared border.
The Vietnamese government expressed confidence that both countries would effectively implement all agreements in the joint statement and continue negotiations to resolve disputes peacefully, based on the fundamental principles of international law, the UN Charter, the ASEAN Charter and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), in a spirit of friendship and ASEAN solidarity for the long-term interests of both sides and the region.
