On the afternoon of December 31, 2025, Hun Chanty Mao Thonin, honorary president of the Kampot branch of the Cambodian Women for Peace and Development Association, led members and local authorities in visiting and providing aid to 909 displaced families from various provinces who were staying temporarily with relatives in Angkor Chey district.
She conveyed greetings and sympathy for the displaced families' distress and difficulties from national leaders Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet, as well as Kampot Governor Mao Thonin. She said the leaders consistently cared for people's wellbeing and worked to uphold their rights and welfare, particularly those of women and children.
The branch's honorary president encouraged the displaced families to continue looking after their physical and mental health, and told them not to worry about accommodation and food. She said the Kampot provincial administration, led by Mao Thonin and guided by the national leadership, had made preparations to receive and support them.
She added that, under the Royal Government and the leadership of Hun Sen and Hun Manet, the country had consistently sought to safeguard peace and care for its people. She said the principle of being “quiet, but not inactive” had brought positive results, enabling all 18 Cambodian soldiers to return safely to their homeland.
She also urged the displaced families to maintain confidence in the Royal Government, particularly Hun Sen and Hun Manet's efforts to secure peace for the country and its people, and in the courage of Cambodian troops in protecting territorial integrity, national sovereignty and the safety of all Cambodian citizens.
