The Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire took effect and has been fully implemented since noon on December 27, 2025. As of 4pm on January 1, 2026, the frontline remained calm, while all 18 Cambodian soldiers had been released by Thailand the previous day and regained their freedom. Nevertheless, Defence Ministry spokeswoman Maly Socheata said Cambodian forces continued to fulfil their duties with a high degree of vigilance and monitor the situation closely to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The spokeswoman added that the Royal Government of Cambodia and its armed forces remained firmly and sincerely committed to respecting and fully implementing the terms of the Cambodia–Thailand ceasefire signed on July 28, 2025, the joint declaration on the peace agreement signed by both sides on October 26, 2025, and other agreements, to improve the situation as soon as possible and ensure peace and safety for the people of both countries.
