Kampot province has considerable potential, including natural resources, waterways, mountain ranges and other natural assets. Together with convenient infrastructure connections, these have made the province highly popular.
Soy Sinol, Director of Kampot’s Tourism Department, said recently that domestic and foreign investors had made substantial investments in hotels, guesthouses, bungalows and other leisure resorts, bringing the number of accommodation rooms in the province to more than 5,000.
He continued: “Tourism in Kampot has grown strongly in recent years. Even during the past COVID-19 crisis, the province’s tourism sector did not face major problems.”
In addition to its other attractions, Kampot has Bokor Mountain, which has been and continues to be developed by Sokha Group. The company has so far spent hundreds of millions of dollars building infrastructure, hotels and residential developments. It is also constructing a 108-metre Buddha statue, described as being among the world’s tallest Buddha statues.
The company is also actively constructing a road from the Veal Sre 500 area on Bokor Mountain to connect with National Road 4 in Preah Sihanouk province.
