At a press conference on January 2, Cambodian Defence Ministry spokesperson Maly Socheata said that no armed clashes or exchanges of gunfire had occurred along the Cambodia–Thailand border since the ceasefire agreement formally took effect at noon on December 27, 2025. The overall security situation remained stable, she said.
Maly Socheata reiterated that Cambodia would continue to implement fully and strictly, and abide by, the existing understandings and agreements. She said any actions contrary to their spirit and provisions should cease immediately to consolidate and sustain the ceasefire’s continuity and stability.
She said that, as a responsible party, Cambodia would maintain close communication and coordination with Thailand and relevant partners, seeking a peaceful solution in accordance with international law that was fair, objective and capable of ensuring long-term stability.
