Huot Hak met India’s ambassador on January 2 to discuss tourism promotion and cooperation; India reiterated support for three quick-impact projects in 2026.

On January 2, Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak met India’s ambassador to Cambodia at the ministry. They exchanged New Year greetings and views on further strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation and attracting more Indian visitors to Cambodia. The talks took place in a friendly, practical atmosphere.

The ambassador said Cambodia’s Tourism Ministry and the Indian embassy had maintained good cooperation, and their joint tourism-promotion activities had achieved notable results, helping Indian visitor numbers to Cambodia continue growing in 2025. He reiterated that India would continue supporting Cambodia in implementing three “quick-impact projects” in 2026, focusing on ecotourism community development to improve local visitor services and sustainability.

Minister Huot Hak thanked India for its longstanding support and said the Cambodia–India Tourism Year had effectively helped increase Indian arrivals. The successive opening of direct routes such as New Delhi–Phnom Penh and Kolkata–Siem Reap had improved conditions for tourism exchanges. He stressed that Cambodia’s strengths in public safety, infrastructure and tourism resources, together with the two countries’ deep historical and cultural ties, would support sustained efforts to attract Indian visitors.
