Summary

Wanli Tire opened its Bavet plant on January 12 with nearly US$300 million in initial investment and more than 600 jobs. Initial annual capacity is about six million tyres, rising to 12 million at full operation expected by the end of 2026.

After one year of construction, another new vehicle-tyre factory officially opened for operations in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province, on Monday morning, January 12, 2026. It is the seventh vehicle-tyre factory to begin operating in Cambodia.

The plant is an investment by China’s Wanli Tire, with nearly US$300 million in first-phase capital and more than 600 jobs for Cambodians. It covers approximately 32 hectares in the Sin Bavet Special Economic Zone in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province.

Wanli Tire is a major Chinese company producing well-known tyre brands including WANLI, MILEVER, SUNNY, APTANY and DIAMOND for export to many markets worldwide. Its Cambodian investment is the company’s first overseas factory. Its production lines are equipped with automation systems and advanced technology.

The plant has initial capacity of approximately six million tyres a year, rising to 12 million when it reaches full operation at the end of 2026. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, presided over the inauguration of this new achievement, which he presented as evidence of good progress in investment in Cambodia. He welcomed the factory’s official opening and said the company’s investment demonstrated confidence in Cambodia’s investment environment, market conditions and political stability.

Export-oriented vehicle-tyre factories have emerged in Cambodia only over approximately the past five years. The country currently has seven factories producing tyres for international markets. In 2025, Cambodia produced and exported 31 million tyres, worth approximately US$1.385 billion.
