Deputy Prime Minister Say Sam Al, head of the working group for local work in Kep province, is promoting development across all five of the province’s fisheries communities as they move towards fisheries-tourism communities and marine aquaculture. The aim is to improve local livelihoods, particularly for people living along the coast. The working group visited Angkaol and Ou Krasar communities last weekend to examine their potential on site.
The visit focused on improving infrastructure, promoting aquaculture and fisheries-product processing, developing tourism services and strengthening community members’ occupational and livelihood skills.
Say Sam Al said the Royal Government consistently gives high priority to improving local community livelihoods, especially in coastal fisheries communities, by promoting partnerships among development partners, the private sector, local authorities and communities to ensure the sustainable and effective use of marine fisheries resources.
Kep has five communities with development potential: Kep, Ou Krasar, Phum Thmey, Kampong Tralach and Angkaol fisheries communities.
