Summary

Kampot MP Un Sokunthea thanked frontline troops and their families at a January 13 visit and sixth-round aid distribution in Teuk Chhou, calling for continued unity. Assistance was allocated to 77 military families.

“All of us can live peacefully as we do today because of the dedication and patriotic spirit of frontline troops and their families, who dare to make sacrifices of every kind to defend the nation. As people on the home front, we thank them and will forever remember this courageous example of heroism.”

Un Sokunthea, a member of parliament for Kampot and head of the government working group assigned to Teuk Chhou district, made these remarks at a gathering, welfare visit and sixth-round aid distribution for military families in Teuk Chhou district, Kampot province, on the afternoon of January 13, 2026.

The working-group head said the recent Cambodia–Thailand border conflict had caused deep pain to people across the country because of what she described as brutal Thai military aggression against Cambodia and its innocent civilians. She said attacks had destroyed Preah Vihear and Ta Krabey temples, which she described as national and international heritage, as well as civilian homes, schools, pagodas, administrative buildings and numerous roads and bridges, and had killed many troops and civilians.

She credited the head of government’s sound leadership, long-term vision and great patience; especially the dedication, courage and willingness of troops and military families to make every kind of sacrifice in defending national territory; and the contributions of people on the home front with prompting international actors, organisations, associations, institutions and major powers around the world to support Cambodia and intervene to encourage a ceasefire.

She thanked all frontline troops and military families and said their courageous heroism and immense, priceless sacrifices would be remembered. She also called on Cambodians to remain united as one, uphold national unity and “Khmer helping Khmer”, and support the government in resolving and ending the problems and demanding justice for Cambodia.
