KPS99TVRead original

Summary

The Public Works and Transport Ministry permitted navigation through Ta Ek canal after dredging was completed, requiring compliance with navigation rules and reserving the right to clear any subsequent shoaling or obstructions.

Ta Ek navigation canal, in Ta Ek commune, Khsach Kandal district, Kandal province, is now open to port and ferry-terminal business owners, shipowners, seafarers, mineral- and sand-dredging companies, and operators of vessels and passenger ferries of all types, provided they comply with the laws in force.

According to a notice from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, dredging and rehabilitation of the canal have been fully completed. The canal is 1,000 metres long, 90 metres wide at the top and 40 metres wide at the bottom, with a minimum depth of five metres. The ministry therefore permits port and ferry-terminal business owners, shipowners, seafarers, mineral- and sand-dredging companies and operators of vessels and passenger ferries of all types to navigate the canal in compliance with the relevant rules in existing navigation regulations. The ministry has also provided a navigation chart for shipowners and boat owners. It reserves the right to dredge and remove obstructions promptly if shoaling occurs in the canal.
