Chan Rathana, acting spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said Cambodia continues to seek international support and intervention so that all Cambodians displaced by fighting can return to their homes.
On January 14, 2026, the acting spokesman said: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Cambodian diplomatic missions worldwide continue to urge the international community to provide support and intervention so that all Cambodians displaced by fighting can return home and resume their daily lives in safety, with dignity and without obstruction.”
Cambodia is also urging Thailand to halt Thai military actions such as demolishing homes and civilian infrastructure and preventing Cambodian residents from returning home. It called for an end to all measures intended to entrench what Cambodia describes as an unlawful military presence in Cambodian villages and localities occupied by Thai forces, and instead for cooperation to accelerate the Cambodia–Thailand Joint Boundary Commission’s work to define the two countries’ land boundary on the legal basis previously agreed by both sides.
