Pursat Governor Khoy Rida observed that Pursat New Market still lacked proper order because some traders had built selling awnings and motorcycle-parking fee collectors had encroached on public road space, causing congestion.
The governor said these problems required reorganisation to improve the market's appearance and environmental hygiene. He instructed city authorities and all traders to help organise order and cleanliness around the market so people could travel and shop more easily.
The governor made the observations and instructions on January 25, 2026, while visiting and speaking with traders around Pursat New Market.
He also instructed city authorities and relevant parties to cooperate in organising orderly trading areas at designated locations, rather than allowing uncontrolled roadside selling that affected road users, particularly people entering the market to shop.
Local law-enforcement authorities, the market committee and security personnel were to take strong responsibility for security and safety inside and around the market, and pay greater attention to rubbish, solid and liquid waste, and surrounding drainage. The area in front of the market in particular was to be kept clean and attractive.
The governor also urged city authorities to continue explaining the arrangements to traders and encouraging their cooperation to make Pursat New Market more attractive to everyone. City authorities and the market committee were also to monitor matters regularly to identify emerging difficulties and avoid causing grievances among traders as they earned their livelihoods.
