Summary

Thai police reported finding 100 kg of crystal meth in an abandoned white Toyota after a January 29 night pursuit near the Uthai Thani interchange. The driver remained at large.

A police pursuit unfolded on Highway 1 from Bangkok towards Nakhon Sawan on the night of January 29. Officers identified a vehicle suspected of carrying drugs and attempted to intercept it near the Uthai Thani interchange. Realising they had been detected, the suspect accelerated away before abandoning the car and fleeing into the night.

Police searched the abandoned white Toyota sedan and found 100 kg of crystal meth, with a reported black-market value exceeding 10 million baht, approximately US$280,000. Investigators said the trafficking group had been active frequently since the previous year and had previously hidden drugs in cabbages. This consignment was suspected to have travelled south from Chiang Rai, with Bangkok as its planned destination.

The vehicle and all the drugs were seized according to law, and the case was handed to narcotics officers for further investigation. Police were pursuing the fugitive suspect.
