Summary

Veterans’ families received new homes, supplies and cash at a February 1 ceremony in Tumnob Rolok commune.

Mang Sineth, governor of Preah Sihanouk and chair of the provincial Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association, said the handover of homes conveyed greetings and care from Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Kittipritthbandit, as well as Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife, Madam Doctor. He said they consistently attend to all veterans' wellbeing and livelihoods.

He conveyed the leaders' congratulations on the new homes and wishes for good health, physical strength, energy, wisdom and happiness in the families.

He said that, as the border faced Thai aggression, unity was essential to protect national sovereignty.

Recalling decades of painful wars, including the Pol Pot genocide in which millions of innocent people died, he praised Hun Sen's efforts to overcome obstacles, free the country from war and enable development.

He said veterans had contributed their strength, wisdom, spirit, flesh and blood to defending sovereignty. Some had died, while others remained disabled.

The leaders' care recognised veterans' courage and relentless struggle, he said.

Thirty-one additional families received new homes, bringing the cumulative total to 65. All families received 100 kilograms of rice, one case of instant noodles, ten cans of fish, one pack of fish sauce, one kit, one mat and 200,000 riel. The 31 families receiving new homes also received one set of kitchenware and an additional 500,000 riel each.

The ceremony took place on February 1, 2026, on social-welfare land in Village 1, Tumnob Rolok commune, Stung Hav district, Preah Sihanouk, in a warm and joyful atmosphere.
