Summary

The prime minister praised the pedestrian street’s popularity and nearly 1,400 livelihood opportunities, one year after its pilot opening.

On February 2, 2026, Prime Minister Hun Manet celebrated the first anniversary of Chaktomuk Walk Street.

The street has become popular with residents and foreign visitors on weekends, attracting about 80,000 to 100,000 visits on Saturdays and Sundays. It has created nearly 1,400 livelihood and business opportunities, comprising about 1,000 general vendors and approximately 400 stalls.

The prime minister cited Phnom Penh's second-place global nightlife ranking, its tenth-place ranking among tourists' favourite cities and its inclusion in the BBC's 20 best travel destinations for 2026.

He attributed the success to the leadership of the Phnom Penh administration, civil servants at all levels, all forces involved and public support.

The pilot began on February 1, 2025, along Preah Sisowath Quay between Streets 94 and 240 in Daun Penh district. It operates from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. every weekend, with all vehicles prohibited, offering national and international visitors a weekly place to stroll. By: Chinda Titi.
