Under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Sokha, Cambodia's General Department of Immigration deported 406 foreign nationals from nine countries on January 31, including 28 women. Chinese citizens formed the largest group, numbering 140. The other nationalities were Indonesian, Bangladeshi, Ugandan, Nigerian, South Korean, Indian, Thai and Sierra Leonean.
The individuals were involved in offences including illegal entry, illegal residence, working illegally and using forged identity QR codes in an attempt to evade checks.
All were formally deported and placed on a blacklist prohibiting re-entry into Cambodia for a specified period.
