Cambodia, through national airline Air Cambodia, agreed to acquire from the United States up to 20 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, part of the 737 MAX family, comprising 10 firm orders and an opportunity for 10 more. The report described the aircraft as modern and highly fuel-efficient and said the airline planned to put them into operation in Cambodia in the near future.
Boeing announced the agreement at the Singapore Airshow on February 3, 2026. The firm order for 10 aircraft and opportunity for another 10 had been finalised in December 2025. This was the airline's first purchase from Boeing.
Air Cambodia CEO Dr. David Zhan said the major investment was about more than adding aircraft: it reflected an ambition to connect Cambodia with the world. He explained: "The 737-8 offers an excellent balance of flight range, carrying capacity and fuel efficiency, which will be an important driver of our next stage of growth."
The report also recalled that in early January 2026, Dr. Mao Havannall, minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, made an official visit to Boeing in Seattle, United States, to learn about the world-class aircraft manufacturer.
