Summary

Specialist officers stopped a truck in Rovieng district on February 4 carrying 160 pigs brought from Laos through Kampong Sralau, and found it lacked an Agriculture Ministry import permit.

Preah Vihear: On February 4, the General Directorate of Animal Health and Production's intervention team against illegal movements of animals and animal products worked with the provincial agriculture, forestry and fisheries department and Rovieng district police to inspect animal transport on Road 95 in Thnal Kaeng village, Rung Roeung commune, Rovieng district. They stopped a HYUNDIA truck carrying 160 live pigs brought from Laos into Cambodia through the Kampong Sralau crossing in Preah Vihear, for onward sale and distribution in the capital and provinces.

A physical inspection found that the live-pig shipment had no import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, contrary to the Law on Animal Health and Production. Specialist officials took the evidence to the General Directorate's quarantine facility for safekeeping and further legal procedures. By: Chinda Titi
