On February 5, Cambodia's General Department of Immigration conducted a deportation operation involving 479 foreign nationals with illegal entry, residence or employment violations. The report described the operation as a continuing clear signal that Cambodia was strengthening immigration management.

The deportees came from eight countries: 241 were Chinese and 190 were Philippine nationals, while the others came from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Korea, Bangladesh and Malaysia. They had been found not to have completed lawful entry procedures or to have resided or worked illegally in Cambodia.

The operation was carried out in strict accordance with Cambodia's immigration laws and regulations by the General Department of Immigration's Investigation and Enforcement Department. All deportees left lawfully through Techo International Airport, and enforcement operations would continue.
