Svay Rieng Deputy Governor Seng Sila said development of Bavet’s landfill and wastewater-treatment system was an important part of provincial development strategy as industry, trade and casinos expanded rapidly. Good waste management would protect the environment, attract investors and build confidence in sustainable living.

He spoke while leading a February 5, 2026 inspection of Bavet’s landfill and sewerage system with a deputy director-general of the General Department of Wastewater Treatment, Project Implementation Unit specialists and heads of relevant departments. The visit took place in Chrakk Mtes sangkat and was followed by a work-progress review at Bavet city hall.

The work was divided into two main stages to address practical implementation and administrative work effectively:

1. The team inspected the landfill and sewerage system in Chrakk Mtes directly.
The visit assessed construction quality and technical arrangements for waste disposal, as well as drainage operations and wastewater management, to ensure they did not harm the environment or nearby residents’ wellbeing.

2. After the site inspection, a review and assessment meeting discussed challenges and requests encountered during implementation.

Seng Sila said the presence of provincial leaders and national specialists demonstrated the government’s strong attention to ensuring public infrastructure served residents’ long-term interests in a green environment.

He asked the team to maintain close attention to construction quality and push work forward according to the agreed plans, serving Bavet residents, especially by improving the city’s appearance and hygienic living conditions. By: Pai Sokhim.
