At an Interior Ministry meeting on the morning of February 6, National Police Commissioner General Sar Thet reviewed nationwide anti-scam operations. He said that despite progress, such crime was continuing to grow and change, requiring police to intensify enforcement, broaden its scope, shoulder greater responsibility and press ahead with the crackdown with full effort.
He said the government's high-level commitment was intended to safeguard long-term national security and stability, meet domestic expectations and send an international signal of commitment to the rule of law.

At the closing of the Interior Ministry's annual review the previous day, Prime Minister Hun Manet called for a major clean-up targeting gangs and scams and said officials involved should be punished according to law. The report said 190 scam sites had been closed and 2,508 suspects apprehended from January 1 to early February 2026, with operations continuing.
