Cambodian security officials recently denied Thai-media reports claiming Cambodia was gathering troops and that the border might face a third round of conflict. They called the reports baseless and misleading.
Several Thai outlets had cited anonymous sources suggesting that, amid developments after Thailand’s 2026 election, Cambodia might acquire advanced air-defence weapons, weaken Thailand’s aerial advantage and trigger another conflict. Cambodian security officials rejected those claims as speculation or fabrication.
Cambodia said it remained committed to existing bilateral mechanisms and peace agreements, including the ceasefire signed on December 27, 2025, and strict compliance with the joint statement adopted by the third special meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand Border Committee. Officials reiterated that Cambodia would firmly defend sovereignty and territorial integrity while prioritising peaceful dialogue to resolve differences and preserve long-term border peace and stability.
